Whether you have small or large rooms, we all like to gain light space in our home, but we do not always have the necessary meters, the budget or the desire to get into a work that turns our house upside down.

So with a few simple tips you can make rooms appear larger. Shall we start the year by giving our house a new look? We leave you some simple tricks.

How to make your rooms look bigger

Make friends with neutral colors

Warm colors such as beige, sand, or even light gray are perfect to give luminosity without losing warmth in the rooms- You can mix them with other darker neutral colors such as the range of darker browns or grays.

If you are one of those who like bright colors, go for bold colors in large pieces such as sofas and armchairs. Green or orange are always a hit.

Rule 60/30/10

Don’t you know the 60/30/10 rule to combine colors? It is very simple to follow and you will be able to combine the colors in a proportionate way and you will be sure.

Use a light color as the dominant color, in 60% of the room this color should predominate.

The next 30% is destined for a darker color in the decoration, this is the color that will stand out from the others in the visual totality of the room. Finally add 10% of another color to give that “magic brushstroke”.

Use mirrors

Make mirrors your best friends. Placing mirrors does not mean making a drastic change in the decoration, and it does not mean a great investment.

Mirrors expand spaces, illuminate and add depth. Do you want a trick? Place it in a place where it reflects outside light.

If your living room is small, place a large mirror on one of the walls, it will seem much larger than it is.

Don’t block the light

Sometimes the layout of the room means that we are forced to obstruct a window, a big mistake! Avoid doing it. Natural light is the best ally to expand spaces.

Having clear windows also provides visibility to the outside, providing added depth and therefore spaciousness.

Choose low furniture

Low cabinets make the space seem more open-plan, oversized cabinets eat up space. It is important to leave the walls uncovered in order to decorate them.

If you can’t do without some tall furniture, don’t do it, just place it in one part of the room, without letting it eat up a lot of space and never place a sequence of tall furniture altogether.

Light-colored sofas

Whether you have to change the sofa, or if you plan to renew the upholstery, opt for a neutral and light color. The space will seem larger and you can give a lot of play with the color of the cushions.

If you do not want to make a large investment, you can simply place a cover to change the look of your sofa without having to make a large investment.

Glass pieces

Use materials that allow light to pass through. A glass dining table or if you don’t have enough space a glass coffee table will also make the living room or dining room appear larger.

We love open spaces, but if you have a wall that you cannot remove and you want to give space, turn the wall into a glass wall, it is a total trend.

Open spaces

As we have mentioned, we love open spaces and if you have the possibility to do so, it is the perfect option to expand the room and add meters. Besides being a perfect option to unify spaces, it is also perfect for socializing and spending more time with the family.
